Impress Yourself!

I saw this meme that said, "Memo to self, I'm going to make you so proud" and it made me emotional. I've never forgotten it. I feel like we spend so much of our time and energy trying to make sure this person sees us this way and that person is impressed with us etc. We lose ourselves in the shuffle.

We spend so much time playing to the people around us without ever checking in with ourselves. What are our dreams? The things that would make us happy even if no one else knew about it? What does success actually mean for you? Peace?

We teach every child to want to be successful and never help them to define what that means. Our definitions should be different. We use the one we're handed and it doesn't fit well for most of us.

I've learned that the only person I'm really trying to wow is me and my standards are high. That yes, I want to have enough money to live comfortably but that's about it. That I'd rather chase a nap than the bag.

Impress yourself based on your own standards. One size does not fit all.
